Lam Chu Yan

PROFILE

Hi, I'm Yuki, a darts player from Hong Kong. I've been playing darts for 12 years, and over the years I've had the privilege of representing Hong Kong in various international competitions across different countries, training and competing regularly in both soft darts and steel darts. My very first set of Target darts was actually a prize I won in a competition — Mitsumasa Hoshino's G1 — and I've been using his signature darts ever since.

Q What made you start playing darts?

A I was first introduced to darts when a friend took me to a darts venue. As I played more, I fell in love with the sport and began practicing seriously and competing. What started as a casual hobby gradually turned into a passion and a goal I actively pursue.

Q What are the characteristics or strengths of your playing style?

A I prefer a fast-paced playing style and don't like to overthink or drag out my throws. Maintaining a clear rhythm during matches is essential to me, and I always aim to deliver every round at a pace that feels comfortable, natural, and consistent.
I consider my greatest strength to be my ability to keep the match flowing with a swift tempo while remaining adaptable across different competition formats. Darts is largely a mental game and a test of rhythm, so I constantly remind myself to focus on each individual dart rather than getting distracted by the score or the outcome.

Q What do you find most appealing about darts?

A For me, the biggest appeal of darts is simple: the satisfaction of hitting the target and winning. On the surface, it seems straightforward, but it’s actually a game full of nuance and constant variables. Every single dart can change the course of a match, making it a true test of technique, concentration, and mental strength. I also love traveling to different places for tournaments, connecting with players from diverse backgrounds, and experiencing new cultures—it makes me love the sport even more.

Q What are your goals and ambitions for the future?

A Looking ahead, my goal is to keep raising my level, making steady progress in both soft darts and steel darts, and achieving top results in high-level competitions. Alongside representing Hong Kong on the international stage, I also hope to compete in Japan’s local Tour, challenging players with different styles to broaden my experience.
