Eugene Tay

PROFILE

I'm Eugene from Singapore and I have been competing in Asia since 2016. Darts has given me the opportunity to meet people from all around the world, pushed me beyond my limits, and brought out a confidence in me that I never knew I had. "Manners maketh man" reminds me that staying humble in victory, gracious in defeat, and respectful towards every opponent is just as important as winning. Outside of darts, I enjoy reading and spending time with my family, and I'm proud and honoured to be a part of Target Darts Japan.

Q What made you start playing darts?

A I first discovered darts when I met up with some friends at a local darts pub. I came across a soft-tip darts machine, and what started as a casual weekend game with friends soon sparked my interest. As I became more determined to improve and challenge myself, darts gradually grew from a casual game into a passion I pursue.

Q What are the characteristics or strengths of your playing style?

A For me, maintaining emotional control is one of the most crucial aspects of competing. Staying calm, composed, and focused under pressure is key to performing at my best and achieving success in the game.

Q What do you find most appealing about darts?

A Managing anxiety while maintaining focus and executing a precise throw is an art in itself. There’s nothing quite like the satisfaction of hitting your target when the pressure is at its highest.

Q What are your goals and ambitions for the future?

A Achieving Top 16 ranking for SEA Tour, Top 32 ranking for The World.
